Update on Lake De-silting Parc Calon Lan
Works that have taken place so far and works for this week:
- Works to reinforce and upgrade the silt management strategies has been continued last week as the teams gear up to undertake the silt removal.
- Meetings on site with NRW flood risk and environmental teams have taken place to address concerns raised following the initial introduction silt management strategies, and to mitigate any ecological impacts. Works are also being adjusted to cater for concerns about nesting birds etc.
- Works to remove the silt will start on the Top Lake at Parc Calon Lan in earnest on today, Monday 27th April, utilising primarily suction dredging methods supplemented by excavation using clam shell buckets in the dry/shallow areas agreed with NRW’s fish specialist.
- Following completion of the silt removal to the top Lake the operations will transfer to the bottom lake following similar environmental controls and methodologies.
